Records of the South Boston Association, an organization founded by William Tudor, Gardiner Greene, Jonathan Mason, Harrison G. Otis, Gardner L. Chandler, and John Smith, kept from 1805-51. The association was incorporated in 1805 by owners of land on Nook Hill in South Boston, formerly part of Dorchester, to work as a proprietary corporation to exchange property, make streets, bridges, and wharves, and to erect buildings. The records contain the constitution, by-laws, and records of annual and directors' meetings. Topics included sale of shares, attempts to build a bridge and wharves, the election of officers, land transactions, accounts, and the disposal of the lands in 1851.
